Arsenal 2-1 Sheffield United: Two second half goals from Bukayo Saka and Pepe seals win; Other matchday 4 results Plus PL Standings

Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe earned Arsenal a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United at Emirates Stadium as both players scored two quickfire goals before David McGoldrick gave the visitors a consolation late in the game.

The first half was pretty much a silent affair but the best moment of the first 45 minutes came on 37 minutes when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s long-range shot was finger-tipped away in a superb save made by Aaron Ramsdale.

Arsenal soon got the much-needed spark they lacked all game long when Nicolas Pepe was introduced in the 58th minute.

He released Hector Bellerin down the right and the defender found Saka at the far post, as he celebrates his England call-up this week with a headed goal on 61 minutes.

Pepe’s magic continued as he got on the scoresheet himself less than three minutes later with a superb solo run and finish, to cap off a 19-pass move.

David McGoldrick gave Sheffield hope as he curled in their first goal of the season with six minutes left, but Arsenal held on for the win.

The maximum three points secured lift Mikel Arteta’s boys up to fourth on nine points while the Blades remain without a point and are second from bottom.
