Kylie Jenner has been forced to put out a statement after she came under fire for asking fans to donate to makeup artist Samuel Rauda’s GoFundMe. The major criticism she faced was that she had only given $5,000 when the GoFundMe target was $120,000.
Some fans are of the opinion that Kylie Jenner could singlehandedly offset the makeup artist’s medical bills.
kylie jenner makes 450k every 24 hrs. her paying his surgery would be .6 cents to us. she could make the 60k back in less than 4 hours. meanwhile she asks people to pay that aren’t financially able like her, during a pandemic. & ur only argument is “it’s her money” pic.twitter.com/ZcnV3qlYTJ
So Kylie Jenner who apparently earns over $450k A DAY and is a billionaire shared the 60k gofundme of her friend who got in an accident for us poor people to donate to? Celebrities are a different breed.
However, the Billionaire make-up mogul has addressed the issue in her Instagram Story. First, she clarified that the makeup artist was not her personal employee and neither was he her friend.
“Sam isn’t my makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but I have worked with him a few years ago and think he’s the sweetest,” she wrote.
Additionally, she claimed that the original goal when she donated was $10,000 and she had completed it with hers. “They had already raised $6K so I put in $5K to reach their original goal and thought I’d post on my stories to gain more awareness if anyone felt so compelled to share or donate,” Kylie Jenner added.
The new goal of Rauda’s GoFundMe was changed to $120,000 and it has gotten to $100,000. Jenner said that she didn’t understand the outrage because the family had reached out to her through her personal makeup artist Ariel and they were “very appreciative of all the donations, prayers and love towards Sam“.
Samuel Rauda was involved in a ‘serious car accident’, Capital Xtra says, but he is recovering and needed to raise money for his medical expenses. He has an Instagram account with 273K followers and a YouTube page with over 80K subscribers.
American singer Bebe Rexha came to Kylie Jenner’s defence as well during the criticism and she too caught a bit of fire as well.
