NBA Playofffs 2020: Luka Doncic lifts Mavericks over Clippers in Game 4 with buzzer beater

From being a doubt to feature in Game 4 after he was left injured (sprained ankle) in Game 3, Luka Doncic did not only feature miraculously but he also put together a historic playoff performance.

Finishing with 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists, Doncic hit a remarkable step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to win the tie for the Dallas Mavericks. The game finished 135-133 in Game 4 and tie their first-round series at 2-2.

Watch Doncic’s history-making display to even the series 2-2 against the Clippers

Marcus Morris had earlier hit a 3-pointer in the corner with just nine seconds left to put the Clippers in front by one, but the Mavericks had the ball and a chance to win and Luka didn’t waste it.

He set the tune, sized up Reggie Jackson, sprinkled some slick dribbling moves on him to create space, and drilled in the 3 at the buzzer for the win.

Doncic on the night became the third player in NBA playoff history to put up at least 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists in a game.

He joined Oscar Robertson and Charles Barkley in the ranks and also became the fifth player in postseason history to go for 40 points and hit a buzzer-beater. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Damian Lillard are the other NBA players to manage the feat.

Definitely not a bad company to join.

After the game, Rick Carlisle says “He sees the game in 6G, not 5G. It’s another level beyond what most people see it. That game was from another planet.”

That it was. He hit one of the best shots in recent playoff memory, recorded a historic triple-double, dragged the Mavericks to a series-tying win, and did it all on a bum ankle. Oh, and it was just his fourth career playoff game, and Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t playing.

Lou Williams had 36 points and Kawhi Leonard finished with 32 points for the Clippers, who blew a 21-point first-half lead. Ivica Zubac contributed 15 points, while Paul George managed just nine points on 3-of-14 shooting. He scored two points in the second half.

We await Game 5 which is set to go off on Tuesday.
