Issa Rae to play Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, in coming "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"

Issa Rae joins the cast of the sequel of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as the voice of Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew.
Her announcement came just in time as Sony has announced that it will begin work on the film this month. She joins the returning actors Shameik Moore, who voiced Miles Morales, and Hailee Steinfeld, who played Gwen Stacy / Spider-Gwen.
Since her “Insecure” television series has grabbed the world’s attention, Rae has starred in films such as “The Hate U Give” (2018), “Little” (2019), “The Photograph” (2020), and “The Lovebirds” (2020). She has been nominated for many Primetime Emmy Awards and won the NAACP Image Awards in 2021 for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
For now, the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” sequel does not have a title. However, Screen Rant reported that Takuya Yamashiro, the main character of the Japanese Spider-Man series, will appear. Meanwhile, it will continue with Morales as the protagonist. The sequel has a release date of 7 October 2022.
