Chelsea football club have been crowned the 2021 champions of Europe.
In what was an evening of top quality and entertaining football, Chelsea FC emerged victorious after delivering what is arguably the performance of the season. Chelsea who went into the game as the “underdog” silenced all doubters after they won the game by a lone Kai Havertz strike.
Led out by Frank Lampard’s successor, Thomas Tuchel, who joined the club halfway through the season, the London club showed Pep Guardiola’s men what stuff they’re made of as they bested them to clinch an all important win and silverware.
The game was settled by a Kai Havertz 42nd minute goal, created by a delicious pass from Mason Mount.
This win takes the club’s UCL trophy tally to two. The first came in 2012 under the management of Roberto Di Matteo who incidentally also didn’t begin the season with the club.

A number of fan reactions have slated Guardiola for always overthinking and undoing himself on the big stage. He seemed to have proven them right with this one.
This takes nothing away from the stellar performance put up by Chelsea in the game. Their defensive midfielder N’golo Kanté ran the show for the full 90 mins; playing as though he had four lungs. He rightly won the Man of The Match; the 3rd consecutive time in the Champions League.
It is a win for English football regardless, as it puts the English Premier League back on top of the pile in European football. The next football season is now poised for even more magic, and we can’t wait.
Congratulations to Chelsea!
Interesting.
