Suzette Quintanilla

Born in 1967 in Lake Jackson, Texas, to Mexican-born record producer and songwriter Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and homemaker Marcella Ofelia Samora, Suzette Quintanilla is a well-known American singer and actress from Texas. She performed the drums, percussion, and backing vocals with her late sister Selena, renowned as the Queen of Tejano, in their family band Selena y Los Dinos. Her music career was hampered by the untimely death of her sister, Selena. Just like her siblings, Suzette’s passion for music began at a young age under the tutelage and guidance of her father.

Following her graduation from high school, Suzette focused on music full time and enjoyed success with her siblings as a group. Their band was signed to Freddie Records and released their first full-length album, Mis Primeras Grabaciones, in 1984. The band released four other albums between then and 1988. Since the death of her sister, Suzette has joined her mother in immortalizing Selena and preserving her legacy. She served as an executive producer on Selena: The Series, alongside her father.

Yolanda was responsible for the murder of Selena Quintanilla in 1995, and fans didn’t quite like seeing that she was present at Suzette’s wedding. Yolanda, who was a nurse and the president of the Selena fan club, shot and killed Selena on 31 March 1995. That was two years after Suzette and Bill’s wedding. Prior to the incident, Yolanda was actually a friend of the family and Selena’s employee. So, it makes sense that she was at the wedding.
