Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex looks very gorgeous in a white classic white shirt for her first official assignment since maternity leave.
A smiling Duchess was pictured at the launch event for her Smart Works capsule collection that will benefit her patronage. Smart Works prepares underprivileged women for the job market (including, but not limited to, providing clothing for interviews).
This is Meghan’s first official assignment since birthing her son, Archie.
The capsule collection was in partnership with a number of UK retailers including Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Jigsaw and designer Misha Nonoo.
The new collection, which consists of five pieces, will benefit the charity organisation Smart Works on a “like for like” basis. This means for each item bought, one will be donated to the charity, which helps dress and coach women to help them find employment.
Ahead of the event, the SussexRoyal Instagram shared photos from the shoot for the Smart Set line and a quote from Meghan. It reads:
“Since moving to the UK, it has been deeply important to me to meet with communities and organizations on the ground doing meaningful work and to try to do whatever I can to help them amplify their impact.
“It was just last September that we launched the ‘Together’ cookbook with the women of the Hubb Kitchen in Grenfell. Today, a year later, I am excited to celebrate the launch of another initiative of women supporting women, and communities working together for the greater good.
“Thank you to the four brands [Jigsaw, Marks & Spencer, Misha Nonoo, and John Lewis and Partners] who came together in supporting Smart Works on this special project—placing purpose over profit and community over competition. In convening several companies rather than one, we’ve demonstrated how we can work collectively to empower each other—another layer to this communal success story, that I am so proud to be a part of.”
