Davido‘s daughter, Imade’s answer to the question, “what does your father do?” may have prompted touches of laughter but it sure as well is another lesson on how impressionable children are.
In a video shared only, 4-year-old Imade correctly answered her father’s name when asked. However, when asked about what does (for a living), the little darling answeres: “He says fire, fire” to the amusement of her listeners.
Here is the video Davido shared, which captured the funny moment:
Yes, of course, it’s all delightful. The innocent girl simply repeats what she hears her father say. We don’t know in what context Davido used those words but they made an impression on Imade. And beyond the immediate entertainment, the incident also calls for reflection.
As adults, we should be careful about our words and behaviour among children. They are watching us and will pick up on what we are doing. How we interact with them and each other sets the tone for them on what they perceive as acceptable social behaviour. And this is especially true within families because children generally regard their parents as role models and will copy their behaviour.
This is not a lesson on child psychology nor on parenting, but just a friendly reminder for us to be aware that children are watching and learning. It, therefore, behoves on us to act the way we would them want to. Walk the talk.
