Emmy was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She was adopted as a newborn by her parents Sharon and Greg, and was raised as an only child. Emmy’s acting career started in musical theatre. While in college, she began working as a professional actress and studied remotely for her junior year. When she got a part in a production of “Hair”, she left her course temporarily with just a semester left before graduation. However, she returned to complete her education afterwards.
