The rivalry was fueled by Nigerian on-air-personality, Misimolu, who recently commented that she preferred Yemi Alade to Tiwa Savage, saying that Tiwa Savage shouts whenever she sings.
The question on the lip of every music enthusiast in Nigeria is, “Who is better, Tiwa or Yemi?”
Notable awards and accomplishments
In 2014, Tiwa Savage won the Best Female Artist award at the 2014 edition of MAMA Awards. In 2018 she bagged the Best Collabo award for Malo at The Headies.
In 2017, Tiwa Savage emerged the Best Female Artiste in West Africa at the 2017 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). Tiwa Savage was listed among BBC’s 100 inspirational women in the world in September 2017.
On the other hand, Yemi Alade bagged the Best Female Artist award at the MTV African Music Awards on 2 occasions - 2015 and 2016. In 2018, she emerged the winner in the Best Performer category at The Headies award.
In 2016, she won The Headies Hip-hop revelation of the year award. In 2015, Yemi Alade was among the African entertainers selected to be part of ONE campaign.
