Addressing the issue, IK maintained he’s not trying to bring anyone down but instead is advocating for them to “set a good example.” He also. claimed that he has never collected money from any artist to play his or her song on radio.
The OAP also added that the practice (of collecting money from artists) is wrong and heartless and makes things difficult for upcoming artists. He says he’s not trying to shade those who are doing it right now, but to encourage them to stop doing it.
Read his post:
“This is not me bragging, this is me keeping it real. I’m not trying to put anybody down but sometimes we need to set a good example. In my entire radio career, I have never asked for money to play any artiste’s song on the radio.? ?I think it’s wrong.
“I think it makes life difficult for budding artistes to pay so much money that they haven’t made yet. It’s just heartless. There are other ways to make money as a radio presenter. I’m not saying this to shade anybody who’s doing it right now.? ?I’m just saying it to encourage you to not do it anymore.
“We can’t keep complaining about politicians and policemen who take bribes if we’re going to be radio presenters who take money from people who make music which is our job to play. Positive change can start with you.?”
