George R. R. Martin Has Another Ace Up His Sleeves: Syfy Sets To Run Nightflyers.

 

With the end in sight for the most popular TV series since God made man and pronounced him Dragon and Wolf (sorry, couldn’t help it) we may not miss the world of Westroes for too long  as Variety reports that Syfy (owned by NBCUniversal) are about to order the novella titled Nightflyers by yours truly into a series.

Published in 1980 the book is a short story collection that includes the story based on the title that as once been adapted into a science fiction horror movie in 1987 (cringes). The story (Nightflyers) was expanded into a 30,000 word piece and published by Dell Publishing. It won the Locus Award in 1981 for best novella and The Analog Readers Poll for best novella/novelette and was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novella. It also won an award in Japan for best foreign fiction.

It includes spaceships, aliens and electronic zombies.

 

The writer would not be involved with the production of this series as he is busy completing the sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series.
