The Venom 2 trailer has confirmed that the film is coming to theatres only and has not given any hint of a character crossover from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Thus, we may not see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in the next Venom film.
With a release date of 24 September 2021, fans of the sentient alien symbiote character can heave a sigh of relief that Venom 2 has not been cancelled. There was fear about this happening due to the many date shifts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Woody Harrelson plays Cletus Kasady or Carnage, Venom’s antagonist, and his voice is used for the trailer’s narration. Tagged “Let there be Carnage”, Venom 2 promises to feature improved CGI effects and explosive cinematic scenes.
In addition to Carnage and Venom, the sequel also features Frances Barrison or Shriek, another symbiote creature played by English actress Naomie Harris. Andy Serkis helms the film taking over from Ruben Fleischer, who directed the first film. However, the production team remains largely unchanged with lead actor Tom Hardy joining Avi Avrad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal.
