Stephanie Frappart will make history on Wednesday when Juventus take on Dynamo Kyiv by becoming the first woman to officiate a men’s Champions League as a center referee.
The Frenchwoman took charge when Liverpool and Chelsea met in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup and became the first woman to referee a major men’s game in UEFA competition.
She has previously officiated men’s Europa League games, overseeing her first Europa League game when Leicester City welcomed Zorya Luhansk to the King Power Stadium.
Frappart refereeing the 2019 Women’s World Cup final between the USA and the Netherlands also underlines her credentials as one of the most sought after officials in the women’s game, leading to her transition to the echelons of the men’s game.
