American rapper Kodak Black has finally received his sentencing, and it is far lighter than the maximum.

Kodak Black was sentenced to 46 months in jail on weapons charges. The judge sentenced him for lying about his criminal record while purchasing or trying to purchase guns on two separate occasions.

Kodak was arrested on 11 May at the Rolling Loud festival. He was granted a $550,000 bond on 15 May, which a judge revoked, calling him, “a danger to the community because he wants to have access to guns.”

Kodak pleaded guilty to the weapons charges in late August.

He had been previously indicted on sexual assault charges in South Carolina in 2016 and was out on bond at the time of his arrest in Miami. Kodak was also arrested in mid-April at the U.S.-Canada border for possession of marijuana and a firearm.

The prosecutors argued for Kodak to be handed eight years in jail after he attacked a guard who is still in the hospital awaiting surgery. However, further evidence proved that Kodak was instigated into attacking the guard.

During his sentencing, the judge told the 23-year-old rapper: “Young people do stupid things. But the problem is that you’ve been doing stupid things since you were 15.”

Before his sentence was handed down, Kodak accepted responsibility for his crimes, saying: “I’m sorry for the actions that led me for where I’m standing. I do take full responsibility for my mishap.”

After his sentencing, he asked fans to hold it down for him writing on Instagram: “Hold It Down While I’m On Lock. Calling Shots From The Box #Literally”
