Nigeria's Super Eagles move up 12 places in new Fifa ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up 12 places from their previous 45th position, thanks to their exploits in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt.

Fifa released the latest ranking on Thursday, 25 July in a list that sees continental champions reap up the ranks in the July update.

AFCON 2019 champions, Algeria moves up 12 places to N0 28 from 48, as did tournament’s runner up who moved two places to No 2o, making them the highest-ranked African country in the list.

Among other African countries that saw their ranking go up are Madagascar (96th, up 12 places) and Benin Republic (82, up six places).

Belgium remains the number one country in world football with Brazil in the second position after moving up one place and followed by France, England and Uruguay.

Portugal, Croatia, Colombia, Spain and Argentina complete the top 10.
