Nigeria to compete in 2019 Snow Volleyball World Tour

Nigeria is set to participate in the 2019 Snow Volleyball World Tour in Argentina, according to Brila Sport.

The 2019 Snow Volleyball World Tour, holding in Argentina, is organised by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).  Teams from Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Nigeria, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Uruguay and the United States have registered to take part in both men and women events, according to FIVB.

So, Only Nigeria and Cameroon will be representing Africa at the event.

Although Nigeria is ranked at 93 and 85 on the last FIVB senior world rankings for men and women, officials of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) are positive the athletes will make a meaningful impact in Argentina, just as they did at the World Beach Volleyball Championships in Germany.

The competition is also part of NBVF’s plans to make the game of volleyball more popular in Nigeria.

Brila Sports quotes the president of NVBF, Musa Nimrod, saying:

“Volleyball is one of the greatest known unifying factors among our peoples across different boundaries, and success at the tour will help to further solidify our unity in the federation and country at large.”

Nimrod is also calling for corporate sponsorship of the NVVF’s projects.

“The country will be attending the 2019 CAVB Zone 3 Nations Cup in Ghana and the U19 team will also attend the World Championships in Tunisia in the month of August; all these we have to attend if Nigeria wants to remain relevant in the game of volleyball,” he is quoted as saying.
