Ahead of what was expected to be a season renewal, the show has been announced as cancelled. According to Deadline, the decision stemmed from creative differences between the creative team and top executives at both Netflix and Marvel.
The writers for the series had reportedly already handed in the scripts for the new season (which had ten episodes, down from the regular 13) but the show was still cancelled.
This is the second Marvel series to be cancelled, after Iron Fist.
