Manchester United 'close to reaching' a new deal for Odion Ighalo to stay at Old Trafford

Ighalo’s parent club, Shanghai Shenhua has been requesting for the player to return with a £400,000 salary on the table following the expiration of his contract at Manchester United.

The difference in interest came when the Chinese club was considering selling Ighalo to a Manchester United that only wanted an extension on the loan deal.

Ighalo’s agent, Ladi Salami has now revealed that the Reds are close to reaching a new deal that will allow Ighalo to stay at Manchester United.

Ladi Salami told FootMercato: “On the one hand, the Super Eagle [Nigerian] feels very good in Manchester with which it is very close to a salary agreement.

“Negotiations with the Chinese are ongoing and are going well.

”On the other hand, in view of the latest regulations in force in the Middle Empire, it is almost impossible to offer such amounts.”

This is coming amid reports that foreign players may not be able to return to China until October, with a new season set to start next month.

Nigerians and Manchester United fans alike have been in a state of panic over Ighalo’s possible move back to Shanghai Shenhua. Since his move to Manchester United, the Nigerian player has only impressed with his performance at the club.
