Man, 50, arrested for impregnating a mentally retarded woman

Side note: If the lady were mentally retarded, then this qualifies as statutory rape, she had no competency to consent to the sexual act.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Isah Gambo, made the incidence known via a statement on Wednesday according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.  He said added that Kamala was a native of Juno village, in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state. The victim’s relatives reported the case to the police.

“Kamala is already in police net over the issue and he has confessed to being responsible for the pregnancy,” Gambo says.

It was gathered that Kamala allegedly lured the woman to his farm several times, where he had sex with her.

The PPRO adds: “The act eventually led to the 28 weeks pregnancy the victim is carrying.

“The woman presently lives with members of her family.”

In a related development, a 45-year-old man, Ahmadu Yahya, has been arrested for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl, according to the Punch.

Yahaya, of Kuraye village, in the Charanchi Local Government Area of the state, was alleged to have lured the girl to his shop where he carried out the act.

The police spokesman said the two suspects would be prosecuted after investigations.
