Kaduna State government relaxes lockdown order

Only a few days after extending the Kaduna state lockdown by 30 days, the government has now relaxed it.

The announcement was made by the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai on his official Twitter handle. According to the announcement, lockdown in the state will be relaxed on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 pm to 6 am starting from Wednesday, 29 April.

In addition to the announcement, a schedule of restrictions was also released. According to it, residents will be allowed to go to pharmacies, shops and markets selling foods while wearing facemasks.

The traders will also be required to wear facemasks and both traders and buyers will have to observe social distancing. After Wednesday, general markets will be replaced by temporary markets which will begin this Saturday.

Kaduna State government relaxes lockdown order

So far, Kaduna State has recorded 15 cases of the Novel Coronavirus. The state governor, Nasir El-Rufai tested positive for the virus but has since recovered. In Nigeria, the number of confirmed cases has risen to 1532.

This is coming after President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians on Monday, 27 April and announced that the lockdown in Lagos, Abuja, and Ogun state will be gradually lifted from 4th May.
