Prince Harry was very emotional as he shares how becoming a parent shapes his perspective of children in special need.
This happened Tuesday evening in London during an award ceremony that celebrates “inspirational children, their families and the people who support them,” according to the BBC News.
During his speech, Prince Harry, who is a patron of the WellChild – the charity organisation that are behind the event, explains how he had felt last year during the award. At the time, his wife, HRH, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan was expecting but it was only then known to the couple. According to the prince, at the time he had squeezed “Meghan’s hand so tight during the award” and thought about “what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time.”
Prince Harry explains that as parents, the WellChild Awards, which is organised in honour of children who are seriously ill “pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own.”
During the speech, an emotional Prince Harry had to break off to compose his emotions as he fought back tears.
