A year ago, Sony Pictures announced that a reboot of the hit franchise will be hitting cinemas in the summer of 2019, with Elizabeth Banks set to direct. Now, words on the street is that Destiny’s Child could be reuniting to create another girl power bop for the upcoming remake.
According to Metro, an inside source revealed that Sony Pictures credits Independent Women – the soundtrack for the movie – for much of the first movie’s success, and is actively courting the group with hopes that they will record another song.
While the Angels haven’t actually been cast for the reboot, it’s been reported that Lupita Nyong’o and Kristen Stewart are in contention, and according to the Metro’s source, Nyong’o’s possible involvement is one of the main reasons the group is excited about returning.
