Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has taken to his Twitter page to call on the president to consider the poor masses.
President Muhammadu Buhari finally granted the requests from Nigerians. The president addressed the nation on the COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday, 29th March 2020.
During the address to the nation, the president declared a curfew in Lagos State, Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This is due to the fact that these states have been the most hit by the virus. Ogun was included due to its proximity to Lagos State. Nigerians are expected to remain in their houses and this sounds like a total lockdown in the affected states.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Yul Edochie calls on the President to provide an economic relief package for Nigerians.
“Dear President @MBuhari,” the tweet reads. “Pls provide an economic relief package for Nigerians, even if it’s 50k each, it will go a long way.
“People are hungry, locked down with no money, begging left, right & centre.
“With the situation like this, it’ll be difficult to keep people at home, ” Yul writes on his Twitter handle.
Dear President @MBuhari
Pls provide an economic relief package for Nigerians, even if it's 50k each, it will go a long way.
People are hungry, locked down with no money, begging left, right & centre.
With the situation like this, it'll be difficult to keep people at home.— Yul Edochie (@YulEdochie) March 29, 2020
Naturally, Nigerians have something to say about the suggestions and as you will expect, the mix of reactions are serious, entertaining and everything in between. Although neither the president nor his representatives have weighed in so far in the discussion.
Check out some of the reactions below:
Yes Mr president please ensure you put the masses into thorough consideration in this respect.. If you don’t want another war alongside Corona virus
