An angry wife who isn’t down with her husband getting a second wife barely two months after their marriage has burned down the family home.

The incident reportedly happened around Badariya area, Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, the Daily Sun reports.

The man was reported to have lost his first wife last year and subsequently married the current wife, Aisha, last February.

An eyewitness revealed that the angry wife, who is against her husband’s plan to marry a new wife barely two months into their marriage, insisted that it is too early to bring another woman as wife into the family.

When the husband told her of his plans to remarry, she didn’t object, but he stated that he should at least wait for some time before he begins to harbour the thoughts of marrying a new wife. The husband, however, refused to heed to the pleas of his wife and made known his intentions to go ahead with his plans.

An unnamed source says:

Yunusa, who lost his first wife last year, married Aisha; but it seems that they are not on good terms. When her husband told her his intention to marry another woman, she got angry and set ablaze her husband’s house when he went out on Tuesday to his office.”

The source also added that though nobody died in the inferno “most of the valuable property belonging to the husband was burnt in the fire.”

It was further learnt that family members came out to extinguish the inferno, and removed few of the husband’s property.

When contacted, the police public relation officer in Kebbi State, DSP Suleiman Mustapha, reportedly said on the phone that the police did not receive any “official complaint from anybody at the nearest police station in the area.” But he promised to make investigations into the matter once the case is brought before the Command.
