Champions League Roundup: Cristiano Ronaldo’s CL hopes fades as Juventus crashes out; Dortmund are through to the last 8

Cristiano Ronaldo‘s hopes of winning the UEFA Champions League with Juventus suffer another blow as the Italians got sent parking by Portuguese side FC Porto on Tuesday night.

Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira scored twice, with the crucial goal coming in extra-time to send 10-man Porto into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on away goals despite a 3-2 defeat at Juventus (agg: 4-4).

Porto also played most of the second leg at a numerical disadvantage after Mehdi Taremi’s sending off.

Oliveira scored Porto’s first goal, from the penalty spot, but winger Federico Chiesa grabbed a brace in the second half to level the tie for Juventus as the match headed for extra-time.

Porto then equalised in extra time and appeared to have the game won but Adrien Rabiot reduced the deficit from a corner kick three minutes from time as the game headed for a tense finale. However, with 38-year-old Pepe a rock at the heart of the defence, Porto repelled the late siege.

The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be made at 11am on Friday, March 19.
