Marcus hands Manchester United win against PSG
Marcus Rashford stole the show late on at the Parc des Princes as he scored the winning goal for Manchester United in a 2-1 win against French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stages.
Two seasons ago, Rashford scored the decisive injury-time penalty in their Champions League last-16 comeback win against PSG. Again he scored with three minutes remaining on Tuesday to reward United with a well deserved three points.
Bruno Fernandes had converted a retaken penalty in the 23rd minute of the game to hand the visitors the lead after Keylor Navas had encroached whilst saving the original effort. But Anthony Martial, unfortunately, scored an own goal ten minutes into the second half to allow PSG draw parity despite United being the better side in Paris.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men executed their tactics brilliantly to quell the threat from the last year’s Champions League runners-up as Axel Tuanzebe masterfully marshalled Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in his first start since 2019.
United stole the win to hand PSG its first home defeat in the Champions League group stages since 2004.
