And if you’re like one user who decided to ignore the creed, just be prepared to be ridiculed; like this Instagram user, @thompson_emmy, who deigned to mess with the duo of Queen Nwokoye and her bestie Destiny Etiko.
So, Etiko posted this lovely picture on Instagram, which she captioned: “On the set of professor johnbull wit my beautiful and outstanding actor @queennwokoye ?????? ”
But one fan wasn’t impressed and commented: “what a shame the female are regarded as actress while actor is for the male.”
The only problem was he was messing with the wrong stars. And the duo decided of Queen and Eniko , each decided to give a little Englis lesson on the usage of the word ‘actor.’
Queen was the first to replying and told the fan that “pls that is not true. Actor can be used for both sexes. And you can actually say your mind without being rude.” Classy.
Then Destiny chirped in with a rejoinder “U are the one who is shameless bcos you don’t even know what actor means it can be used for both so my dear kindly receive sense @thompson_emmy ??.” Not so classy!
But as far as English lessons are concerned, we feel both Destiny and Queen do not seem to understand the expression “it’s a shame“, which according to the Longman dictionary is “used when you wish a situation was different, and you feel sad or disappointed.”
Just as the Cambridge online dictionary also describes it: “if something is described as a shame, it is disappointing or not satisfactory.”
English is hard, we know!
