Frank Lampard’s departure from London club Chelsea’s dugout might be more imminent than initially feared as the club’s top brass have reportedly set their sights on four managers as his potential replacement.
Lampard, a former Chelsea player and apparent legend, has come under tremendous pressure of late following his team’s dreadful form despite the club management backing him with a £200m transfer war chest this last summer.
Despite recruiting the services of stars like Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner not to mention Christian Pulisic who joined the club in January, 2019; Lampard has failed to impress his employers and mount a credible bid for the Premier League title.
Chelsea’s defeat at Stamford Bridge at the hands of a Coronavirus depleted Man City team on Sunday, 3 January 2021 proved to be even more embarrassing for the struggling Lampard.
Chelsea have now lost against Wolves, Everton, Arsenal and Man City despite being on an impressive run of wins at the start of the campaign.
In fact, the Blues have only been able to salvage four points out of a possible 18 in their last six Premier League matches.
Is it time for Frank Lampard to leave? Some of the fans have already started trending the hashtag #LampardOut and new reports suggest it might not be the just the fans only who want him out.
