Barcelona to be without Philippe Coutinho until March due to injury

Brazillian midfielder Philippe Coutinho will be out of action for Barcelona for at least three months due to injury and he’s expected back by March 2021.

Barcelona has been in terrible form this season and their injury woes continue to pile up. Just after welcoming back Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho joins the like of Pique, Fati and Sergi Roberto on the sidelines.

Coutinho suffered a knee injury during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Eibar on Tuesday 29 December 2020. The midfielder had come on as a substitute in the second period but had to leave the match during injury time.

Barcelona completed the game with one man down because they had used up all their subs by then. Messi also missed the game due to a minor injury.

Reports confirm that Philippe Coutinho had successful surgery on his left meniscus. However, he will need enough time to recover fully to avoid making it worse.

With the injury problems and poor form, the La Liga title seems out of reach for Barcelona this 2020/2021 season.

Coutinho had just returned from a season loan spell with German side Bayern Munich. He had won the league title, DFB-Pokal Cup and UEFA Champions League scoring 11 goals for the club.

Since his return, Philippe Coutinho has scored three goals and assisted two for Barcelona.
