What should have been an easy fixture for world club powerhouse Bayern Munich turned into an upset as second division club Holstein Kiel knocked the Champions League champions out of the DFB cup.
The DFB Cup titleholders Bayen Munich scored in the 14th minute via a Serge Gnabry strike. If Bayern Munich fans had expected a rout they couldn’t be more disappointed when Bartels levelled for Holstein Kiel before the end of the first half.
As expected, Bayern Munich got to an explosive start from the start of the second half. Leroy Sane restored the lead three minutes into the second period.
While enjoying the lion share of possession, Bayern Munich failed to capitalize on their chances to increase the lead. Lewandoski and Douglas Costa came on to keep the underdogs under more pressure.
