Shadow and Bone renewed for season 2, Netflix confirms

It’s confirmed! The critically acclaimed Netflix fantasy series, Shadow and Bone has been renewed for a second season. The series whose first season premiered on Netflix on the 23rd of April was received with much enthusiasm and didn’t disappoint. Now, just as fans have prayed and hoped, it will be coming back for a second season.

Netflix made the announcement at the virtual fan event, the Netflix Geeked’s first-ever Geeked Week. In the clip which featured some of the favorite cast members, Kit Young (Jesper Fahey) declares: “Your summoning powers worked.” To which Ben Barnes (General Kirigan) then retorts: “Spoiler alert, I’ll see you in season 2.” Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov) chips in: “Shadow and Bone is officially returning for a second season!”

According to Netflix, season 2 features eight new 1 hour episodes which promise to be memorable for fans of the show.

As you must have learned by now, the series is adapted from a book series of the same name by author, Leigh Bardugo. He released a statement after the official announcement was made.

“I’ve been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly 10 years now, so I’m thrilled we get to keep this adventure going. There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand.”

All main cast members are set to reprise their roles in the second season. The waiting game now begins. We hope it doesn’t take forever.
