The Spanish captain’s statement was as a reply to Maradona saying that Ramos’ Athletico Madrid rival, Godin, a better defender than Ramos. In Maradona’s words:
“When talking about cracks (sensational players), I was told the other day that Sergio Ramos is a crack. I do not want to argue but I have to say. No, Godín is a crack.”
Reacting to the statement at the mixed zone in Kazan on Wednesday, Ramos has this to say:
“In Argentina, they know that Maradona is light years away from the best Argentine player in history, which for me is Lionel Messi.”
Meanwhile, Spain was victorious against Iran on Wednesday and are currently topping their group at the World Cup tournament.
