World Cup math day 7 recap: Portugal, Spain, Uruguay triumph on 1 goal margin

The prolific striker has made it clear that he plans to do whatever it takes to get his team as far as they can possibly go in the World Cup.

The rest of the math was more or less uneventful, a few created chances here and there in what most would call a balanced game but none of the teams was able to produce a goal after Cristiano broke the deadlock.

The match between Iran Vs Spain was something to behold. Fans have described Iran’s defending as “master class“, however, the defence failed to stop the ball from going into the net.

Diego Costa was given a pass in the box 18 and tried to spin around and hit a shot. Fortunately for him, he didn’t need to, the ball hit an Iranian defender and somehow managed to take a deflection off  Costa and end up in the back of the net, giving Costa his 3rd goal of the tournament and the only goal of the match.

In the match between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, a corner kick proved the be Saudi’s undoing. Uruguay held on to the 23rd minute Suarez left foot strike  (via a corner kick) and managed to keep the game that way till the end. We saw a different Saudi Arabian team from the one that conceded 5 goals against Russia in their opening game but a loss is a loss, unfortunately for them.
