The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Seychelles 3-0 on 8 September to put themselves back in contention for a place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This has improved Nigeria’s position from 6th to the 5th best team in Africa. Seychelles dropped one spot from 188th to 189th in the rankings, while Libya, who are to face Nigeria in their next group game of the AFCON qualifier next month are placed 99th in the ranking.

The top position in Africa is occupied by Tunisia followed by Senegal and Congo DR who take up the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively, while Nigeria moved just a spot up to become 5th in Africa with 1410 points.

Brazil, Croatia and Uruguay round up the top five. England, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark are sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th respectively.

The next Fifa World Ranking will be published on October 25th.
