Marvel Comics recently announced the launch of Ironheart solo series, right on the heels of their announcement of Shuri’s solo comic book series.

Ironheart is the superhero identity of a teenage MIT student from Chicago, Riri Williams. After Riri loses her stepfather and her best friend to a drive-by shooting, she re-creates the Iron Man suit – without the resources of Tony Stark.

In existing comics (Invincible Iron Man), Riri was mentored by Tony Stark for a while before she eventually takes over from him as Iron Man. But this is the first time she is getting her own series.

The new Ironheart comic series will be written by Eve Ewing, a Chicago-based artist, poet and playwright. Ironheart #1 is set to hit shelves on November 7.
