According to reports from Deadline, the two-time Oscar nominee as been picked by HBO for the lead role for the Game of Thrones prequel. After lengthy negotiations, Naomi Watts signed on to lead the ensemble cast of the prequel.
Deadline further reported that the yet-to-be-titled project from creator Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin will see Watts playing the character of a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.
HBO also confirmed this in a tweet, which reads: “After lengthy negotiations, Naomi Watts has signed on to lead the ensemble cast of @HBO’s #GameOfThrones prequel pilot.”
