On Sunday, FBI officials announced in a news conference that they found a body in Teton County, Wyoming, which is “consistent with the description of” missing 22-year-old Gabby Petito.
The young YouTuber has been missing for a couple of weeks after she went on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie. She never returned home from the trip, but her boyfriend did.
Authorities have been searching for her since she was reported missing. This weekend, a search was conducted around the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in Bridger-Teton National Forest on the eastern edge of Grand Teton National Park for any sign of Petito.
North Port police said about the body found, “Saddened and heartbroken to learn that Gabby has been found deceased. Our focus from the start, along with the FBI, and national partners, has been to bring her home. We will continue to work with the FBI in the search for more answers.”
At the same time, a search was also launched for Petito’s fiancé, Brian Laundrie. His family had complained to the police on Friday that they had not seen him since last Tuesday.
