The filmmaker behind movies like the highly anticipated ‘Citation’ and ‘October 1’ has revealed that a script based on the tragic 20 October, Lekki toll gate massacre is in development.
This announcement comes amidst the calls for people to document the happenings of that night and, in fact, the last two weeks so that they are not forgotten.
A fan asked Kunle Afolayan if he will make a new movie documenting the tragic night, maybe as a sequel to his 2014 thriller movie, October 1, and he relied:
“It is a must told story. Script development in progress. #Godsavenigeria”

He added in a discussion with Pulse TV:
“As a filmmaker, it is our social and human responsibility to also use our craft to consciously tell stories that will help create positive awareness politically, culturally and to also document the history for ourselves and generations to come”.
We definitely can’t wait to watch this film, and hope that by then, Nigerian youths would have started seeing the positive results of their agitation.
