Leicester had submitted their finalized agreement to the FA just minutes after deadline and has since being pushing through to get the cancelation of the transfer withdrawn, but after getting a nod from English FA, FIFA has refused to endorse the deal.

FIFA through a spokesperson made it known in a statement that the appeal was rejected:

“The petition by the Football Association for permission to requaest the international certificate for the player Adrien Silva and subsequently register the player for its affiliated club, Leicester City FC, is rejected.”

The club maintained their stand that the transfer was completed on time and all parties involved in the deal met the deadline but the club’s spokesperson said:

“The club … (may) decide to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

The player was left out of Portugal’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers but the club will continue to rally round the player to ensure he is not affected by the impact of missing action for a large part of the season.

If the deal is not endorsed, they will have to wait until January to sign him completely to replace Danny Drinkwater as they continue to struggle in the league.
