When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world and ravaged the entirety of the human race, forcing us all indoor and ultimately altering existence as we knew it, the foremost question we asked was, “How will we win this?” With the virus spreading like wildfire and proving too much for the health sector, the apparent solution was developing a vaccine to counter it. In there lay the most significant worry, when will that happen?
Usually, developing a vaccine takes between 6 to 10 years, depending on how much information is available about the disease itself, how it infects people and spreads, and so on. So, there we were, in a global health crisis in dire need of a solution. Scientists worldwide and pharmaceuticals got to work in search of a vaccine to achieve an unprecedented feat in medicine. And they did!
Initially, the first human testing was expected to commence in March of 2021, to which Dr Jerome Kim, Director-General of the International Vaccine Institute, made the following comments, “When we are used to five-year time frames, to see something go into human testing on 17 March is a remarkable thing.” More remarkable is that by December of 2020, the first jab of the Pfizer vaccine was administered in the UK.
However, the COVID vaccine has been a subject of surplus controversy as many people, including some healthcare professionals, kicked against it. The reasons ranged from genuine safety concerns to blatantly baseless conspiracies. Many celebrities have also openly spoken against the vaccine, declaring their anti-vax positions.
The most recent of such people is Chet Hanks, son of Hollywood star Tom Hanks, who was among the first celebrities to contract the virus. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the widely known anti-vax celebrities.
Chet Hanks
Chet, son of Hollywood icon, Tom Hanks took to his Instragam yesterday with a video where he shared his anti-vax views. In the video, Chet starts by pretending to advise his fans to get the vaccine before abruptly shouting, “Psyyyyych!” breaking the train. He quickly followed it by saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I ain’t never had Covid,” he said. “You ain’t sticking me with that motherf__ing needle. It’s the motherfucking flu. Get over it, okay? If you’re sick, stay inside. Why we working around y’all? If you’re in danger, stay your ass inside. I’m tired of wearing a motherfucking mask, [sic]” he added.

Of course, there was a lot of backlash after that video. Chet made a follow-up video with a not-so-bright attempt at damage control in response to them. “I have the right not to get that shit. I wanted to, but my immune system said it’s good. It doesn’t want to be tampered with,” he explained.
“It doesn’t want to be tampered with, it said it’s good, okay? Let’s be real. 99 per cent of you motherfuckers wouldn’t use a shampoo that’s not FDA approved, but you’re willing to get some experimental, government injection. There’s more evidence of UFOs being real than that vaccine being healthy for you,” Hanks added.
It doesn’t come as a shock to anyone who knows Chet for his mindless antics on social media and anywhere else.

Offset
Offset is one of the renowned musicians who have openly expressed their scepticism about the COVID vaccine. This may not come as a surprise, as the black community never really trusts the government’s motives and with good reason. When asked by TMZ in December 2020 if he will be taking the vaccine, his response was a straight ‘no’, as he doesn’t trust it. The reason is a result of the lack of trust between the black community and medical professionals.
In his words, “A lot of the government shit, I don’t be thinking it’s for us.”

Lauren Goodger
Lauren Goodger is another public figure to speak up against the vaccine. The model and TV personality said she wouldn’t be getting the vaccine as she is terrified of medicine. “I am more scared of the vaccine than I am of the virus. I will start imagining that I am dying, I am terrified,” she declared. She went further, adding, “I don’t like taking medicine. I don’t like taking antibiotics.”
Lauren added, “I think I have had COVID, and if I was to get ill I would treat it how I would treat it. I didn’t die from it. It is like getting a cold. I wouldn’t get the flu jab either.”
