BTS breaks Spotify single-day streaming record with new song 'Butter'

The Bangtan Boys have shattered a new record with their latest single, Butter, that dropped on Friday 21 May 2021.

“Butter” got off to a smooth start recording over 20.9 million streams globally and also made it to the top of the list of Spotify’s single-day streaming record for a song in the streaming service’s history.

The streaming service which currently reaches 356 million monthly active users globally accounts for multiple time zones while calculating first-day streams.

BTS confirmed in a recent interview that ‘Butter’ is a summer anthem saying the song is all shades of positive energy and good vibes.

The septet also performed their new single ‘Butter’ for the first time at the Billboard Music Awards which took place on Sunday 23 May 2021.

The official video for BTS’s ‘Butter’ also broke the group’s record on YouTube, setting a new record for most views within 24 hours of release on the video streaming platform.

‘Butter’ surpassed their other song ‘Dynamite’ which had 101.1 million views for the same time frame hitting 108.2 million views and as of this article, Butter’s reached 182 million views.
