Ahead of F9, you can watch all previous Fast & Furious films for free in these select cinemas

Ahead of releasing F9 or Fast & Furious 9, Universal Pictures is making all the previous films from the franchise available in cinemas … for free! You get to see “The Fast and the Furious”, “2 Fast 2 Furious”, “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”, “Fast & Furious”, “Fast Five”, “Fast & Furious 6”, “Furious 7”, and “The Fate of the Furious”.

From “The Fast Saga” Twitter page, we found this announcement on Friday, 23 April 2021: “It’s been one helluva ride so far. Get ready for #F9 by watching all the movies in the Fast Saga on the BIG SCREEN. Every Friday in select [theaters] across the country starting 4/30.” The distributors, Universal Pictures also confirmed the news with a quoted retweet.

All the participating cinemas offer interested viewers different means of purchasing tickets and it will require everyone to go to their websites and using a specific code. However, if you miss the free promo, you can still buy tickets to see the films. It is not clear yet if the films will only be showing in these select cinemas or if they only offer free tickets while the films will be available in other cinemas not mentioned.

US fans who have been looking for opportunities to catch up on the twenty-year-long franchise have finally got the chance now. Notably, the 2019 “Hobbs & Shaw” film is not included. Likely, this is because it is treated as a spinoff that has no connection to the original story like the rest of the eight films do.

ScreenRant commended the move as a marketing masterpiece that will “solidify the theatrical experience’s part in the Fast & Furious franchise’s success”. Despite Universal not clearly benefitting financially from this development, it will no doubt breed a new school of dedicated fans. This will be important in the long term as the company plans to release two more films from this franchise in the future.
