Gospel Airplay: Travis Greene rises to No. 1 with DOE collab 'Good and Loved'

Travis Greene has revealed he could not have imagined the impact of his collaborative effort with DOE, “Good and Loved”, as the song tops gospel airplay. The track is Greene’s fifth No.1 song and DOE’s first.

“Good & Loved,” rose to the top spot on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart (May 29).

According to MRC Data, “Good and Loved” increased by 17% in plays in the tracking week ending May 23.

Greene, who pastors Forward City Church in Columbia, S.C., with his wife, Jacqueline Gyamfi Greene wrote “Good and Loved” all by himself.

He said in an interview,“Good & Loved is a song that I began writing at our church in South Carolina and finished writing at an airport in Africa.”

“I instantly knew that this song was special, but I could not have imagined its impact. I’m so grateful to Doe Jones for adding her amazing voice to this anthem. The success of this song is the product of radio’s support, each listener’s request and, ultimately, the goodness of God.”

Last July, Greene led the Gospel Airplay with “Won’t Let Go” for about a week and before that, he held sway with “You Waited” starting in November 2017, “Made a Way” in December 2016, and “Intentional” back in January 2016.

Greene has now tied Donald Lawrence and Marvin Sapp for the fourth-most Gospel Airplay No. 1s since its launch in March 2005. Kirk Franklin, however, leads with eight, followed by Tamela Mann who has seven and James Fortune & FIYA joint on six.

DOE’s 2020 debut EP Life Room also peaked at No. 24 on Top Gospel Albums back in November.

“Good & Loved” was first released on Greene’s 2019 album “Broken Record” and it featured Steffany Gretzinger in that version.
