Nigerian music blog Notjustok.com started the April Fool prank about a Jay Z album titled Ascension which features African artists like Olamide, Sarkodie, Femi Kuti, and Nasty C.
The prank about a 15-track surprise album from the hip hop heavyweight worked out too well. Within five hours there were already tens of thousands of tweets about the album and its cover art was already everywhere online.
It showed the rapper featuring other internationally successful acts like Beyonce, Vanessa, Rick Ross, H.E.R and Lighthouse Family. However, a little digging around took the lid off the April Fool’s prank.
