Serena Williams’ take on marriage success includes working for it

Celebrity marriages and relationships are usually very famous, and when they are short-lived, they become the talk of the town. Serena Williams, who tied the knot with tech guru Alexis Ohanian in 2017, believes that the key ingredient missing in many of these failed marriages is work.

Her latest take comes from a video she made for dating app Bumble’s Question Game. She had initially answered that a dealbreaker for her in a relationship is lack of loyalty.

However, when she talked about marriage, she revealed that it is not expected to be easy or smooth. In her own words, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion said; “Marriage is not bliss. But it can be if you work at it.”

Williams and Alexis Ohanian were married on 16 November 2017 after their engagement of 11 months which she announced on 30 December 2016. The couple’s wedding drew high-profile guests like Beyoncé, Anna Wintour, Kelly Rowland and Kim Kardashian.

Her latest statement reveals a realistic take on what married life is like after the glamour of the ceremony and honeymoon. She and her husband share a daughter, Olympia, who they welcomed in September 2017.
