Daniel Wroughton Craig confirms that his last duty as James Bond has been completed with No Time To Die, and he says it has been his greatest honour.
After playing the iconic British spy in four films, a short film, two video games, and several TV commercials, the actor will once again dorn his tuxedo one last time.
Come 30 September 2021, fans of the action thriller will get to see him again. This time, with a bitter-sweet taste in their mouth as the actor that assumed the mantle would be passing it on to someone else.
Daniel Craig has been the first to play 007 in the age of social media popularity, and due to this, he has gotten the most exposure. With this has come several other unsavoury details as well that has nearly been damaging to the franchise.
In October 2015, Sky reported that the actor said that he would not be playing the role anymore after Spectre.
“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on,” Craig reportedly replied when asked whether he could imagine doing another Bond movie.
However, as part of his last duty as the secret agent, he is ensuring that the series lives on. Daniel Craig wants the next actor (or actress) picking up after him to not come with any preconceived notion that playing the character is overly tedious.
“I know there’s a lot of things said about what I think about these films and all of… whatever, but I’ve loved every single second of these movies and especially this one, because I’ve got up every morning, and I’ve had the chance to work with you guys. And that has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” he said in a clip released by @itsfilmthusiast.
