See all the powers, cast and characters of the Marvel Eternals film, coming out on 5 November 2021 – Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Gemma Chan, …
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a gift that keeps giving, and the well anticipated Fourth Phase is essentially upon us. Who doesn’t like superheroes? For Marvel fans, there has never been anything more exhilaratingly fun and enjoyable like the Avenger series, which saw a coming together of superheroes to fight evil. And with that storyline pretty much laid to rest in Endgame, Marvel’s Eternals has picked up the baton.
Come November 2021, fans will be introduced to a new set of superheroes on the big screen. As described by Wiki, the film is based on the Marvel Comics race of the same name. It is intended to be the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In the film, an immortal alien race emerges from hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from its evil counterparts, the Deviants.
The events of the film are set in a post Avengers: Endgame era, when an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy. It is directed by Chloé Zhao, who recently bagged two Oscars for her masterpiece, Nomadland. So, you might wonder, what’s the big deal about this film? Why should we be excited about it?
Keep reading. You just might get the answers you seek, as we take a look at important details of the film, such as who is in it, more on the superheroes, and what they can do.

Eternals characters and superpowers
Sersi, portrayed by Gemma Chan

She is an empathetic Eternal with a strong connection to humans and the Earth. Sersi’s superpower is the ability to manipulate inanimate matter. She has been in love with Ikaris for centuries and has a strong connection with Sprite. She poses as a museum curator on Earth while dating Dane Whitman.
Speaking about her character, Chan said: “She’s interesting because she is this immortal being, but she’s very grounded as well.” “She’s a little bit of a free spirit and just loves being amongst humans,” Gemma added.
Ikaris, portrayed by Richard Madden

Ikaris is one of the most powerful Eternals, with the ability to fly and shoot beams of light from his eyes. He has a special connection with Sersi, but they don’t necessarily see eye-to-eye on their approach toward humanity. They have a complicated, on-again-off-again relationship that’s stretched throughout the centuries. Speaking on the relationship between Ikaris and Sersi, Madden said that they have “a deep level of romance” and “are two opposing sides of how they connect with the world”.
Madden also said he had to find a way to play the role of Ikaris in a way that he didn’t appear to be bored of everything due to how long he’d lived.
Kingo, portrayed by Kumail Nanjiani

He is an Eternal who has the ability to project cosmic energy projectiles from his hands. Kingo became a popular Bollywood film star to blend in on Earth, and by so doing, became rather famous, as opposed to the low profile his other mates preferred. Nanjiani trained extensively to get in superhero shape, and to capture Kingo’s joyful, effortless fight style, he went back and watched old Errol Flynn movies and some of the original Zorro films.
Kingo had to perform a big Bollywood dance routine, and this, according to Kumail, was the most challenging part of the project for him. “I’m not a dancer,” says Kumail while speaking about the film. “I have zero rhythm. I had to take months and months of classes to do this. So it was very challenging, but I know that if we could pull this off and capture the joy and excitement of a Bollywood dance number in a Marvel movie, that would be special — because I grew up watching Bollywood movies. I knew every Bollywood movie until like the late ’90s. So to be able to do an homage to the genre of movies that I loved and grew up watching was really special.”

Sprite, portrayed by Lia McHugh

An Eternal who can project lifelike illusions, Sprite has the physical appearance of a 12-year-old child, but of course, like the others, she has lived for thousands of years. McHugh called her an “old soul”.
Speaking on the role, Lia said she could sort of relate to Sprite as hers was similar to the way she had lived her whole life. She added that she looks younger than she actually is. “I really related to her in that way and in wanting to grow up a little bit, but being stuck in a way,” Lia said.
