Reactions as Davido’s ‘Fall’ becomes first African song to be certified Gold in the US

Nigerian Superstar David Adedeji Adeleke, who goes by the stage name Davido, has gotten international recognition once again as his “Fall” track gets Gold certification in the US and everyone couldn’t keep calm.

This means that the song has sold at least 500,000  copies in the US. It also made history as the first Afrobeats song to be certified Gold in the USA as well.

Released in 2017, Davido‘s fall made it to his second album ”A Good Time”,  which was produced by Kiddominant 2019. The track travelled outside the borders of Nigeria to other parts of the world. In February 2020, it was certified Platinum, meaning that it sold at least a million copies.

Fall made history as the first-ever African music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube although Yemi Alade song, Johnny, soon followed suit after.

According to reports from Rolling Stone Magazine, the Fall track was one of the top 100 most-searched songs on Shazam in American in January and top 10 records on Shazam in New York.

Davido took to his social media page to announce how far his track has gone and that he has now been certified Gold in the States.
