‘I’m the Jesus of Nigerian music’ – Terry G says as he compares himself to Naira Marley

Many Nigerians have compared Terry G to Naira Marley several times in the past owing to the somewhat similar vibes of their music.

Terry G, whose real name is Gabriel Amanyi, has described himself as the Jesus of Nigerian music, saying he set the pace for the current trends in Nigerian music.

Don’t misunderstand him though, he’s not the Christ, only the Jesus, because he’s as well known as Jesus was, according to his interview with Channels TV.

The singer, famous for his songs, ‘Free Madness’ and ‘Akpako’ spoke to Channels TV about his music and the current state of the music industry. He said:

“I’m the Jesus of Nigerian music, I’m not the Christ. The Christ is the saviour, Jesus is a name, and for the fact that Jesus is the most popular name that died for us and sacrificed for us.

“It took me a while to take this risk that a lot of persons discriminated against me for and now, they see people smoking, doing stuff and nobody is talking. There must be a pace-setter.”

While adding to the conversation on the comparison of him and Naira Marley, Terry G said it was not in his place to speak on who is more influential between himself and Naira Marley.
